erica had always loved the carnival. every year as a little girl, her family would spend a day at the fair. it was always so much fun and she looked forward to it every summer. as much fun as it was to go with her family, she liked going with noah even more. she was so happy to have him back. the letters, phone calls, and video chats were great, but walking through the carnival holding his hand was so much better. she felt like a teenager again. sure, she wasn't in new york preforming on broadway, but as long as she was with noah, she didn't care where she was. alpine heights wasn't a bad town to live in. it didn't compare to new york, but she wasn't complaining. she still held on to her dream of the pair moving to new york where she could easily chase her dream. until then, she was content living in alpine heights. wherever noah was, she'd go. after all, that's why she was back here.
the diamond ring on her finger sparkled beautifully in the setting sun. even after a year, she'd hardly taken it off once since noah gave it to her. a smile formed on her lips as she looked from the ring up at noah. " you know, when i was little, my parents couldn't drag me on a ferris wheel. " she said with a laugh as they neared the ferris wheel. " and when i got older, they couldn't get me off of it. " another chuckled escaped her pink lips. " i'm not sure how i feel about it now.. " she commented as she looked up at the ride towering over them. she wrinkled her nose as they continued to walk past the ride. erica didn't really like heights, thus she wasn't a fan of the ferris wheel. of course when she was a teenager, all rides were fun.
everything was in full swing, the rides were up and running - loudly. they smelled like grease, or oil, or something straight out of a garage. the scent was hardly noticeable, however, when they neared a food hut or booth. there were so many smells, it was hard to make out exactly what she was smelling. actually, she was probably smelling about a dozen different things at once: popcorn, cotton candy, hot dogs, corn dogs, french friends, funnel cake, and many other popular carnival food items. with the smell of food still wafting in the air, they neared all the booths where games were played. erica had never been good at any of them, but most of them weren't fair anyway, were they? fair or not, they were fun. it didn't take long for them to pass through that part of the carnival and they were back to more rides. whether they rode anything or not, she didn't care. as long as noah was by her side, holding her hand, she didn't care what they did.
erica's most favorite part of the carnival was yet to come. the fireworks were the best part, hands down. all the vibrant colors exploding against a pitch black sky, what could be better than that? they still had a fe hours to kill before the fireworks started though. she could wait, she wasn't in any hurry. both of them had been so busy, it felt like it had been ages since they got to spend some quality time together. oh top of work and whatnot, they still had a wedding to plan. erica didn't want to rush it, but she was starting to get a little excited. the sooner the better. she wanted to be able to sign her name mrs. noah oswald. the thought of it made her stomach do a little flip. she was actually going to marry the boy she fell in love with so long ago. " i love you. " she whispered as she softly planted a kiss on his cheek.
notes - i'll make this pretty later. i'm so lazy, it's horrible.

[style=background-image: url(http://i.imgur.com/K7o5w.png); width: 350px; height: 300px;] [/style][style=width: 400px; font-family: arial; padding-bottom: 5px; text-transform: lowercase; border-bottom: 5px solid #20425C; font-size:10px; padding-top: 5px; color:#000; text-align:justify; line-height:120%;]noah sure did missed alpine heights while he was away from the people he cared about. he couldn't handle being away from home and the people in it. mostly, he couldn't handle being away from erica. she was all he could think about when he was departed to iraq; she's the main reason why he's back home alive and still breathing. she's clearly his good luck charm because without her, he wouldn't be here. being away from her for three years has been the longest time he's ever been away from her. luckily, he was able to keep in contact with her while being thousands and thousands miles away from each other. after years have gone by, he's now back home in alpine heights safe and sound, being able to wrap his arms around his beautiful fiancee and telling her every five minutes how much he loves her. he cannot wait to marry her and spend the rest of his life with. he already knew he was going to be with her forever, but wanted to give her an engagement ring to make it official. even though, they're not finally marry yet, he's already calling her as mrs. noah oswald. all noah sees in his future is to spend the rest of his life with erica and maybe live in a little one-bedroom apartment that she dreamed about. he doesn't mind where their future holds because as long as he has her in it, then wherever they go is fine by him. he loves her so much that he's willing to leave alpine heights and go wherever she wants to; whether if it's in new york or somewhere else.
noah enjoys coming to the carnival. it's been a while since the last time he's attended to an event like this. ever since he was little, his parents would take him and his younger sister to the carnival every year for their little family time, but stopped going after his father passed away when he was fifteen. while waiting in line to get on the ferris wheel, he overheard erica mentioning something. he looked down at his 5"2 fiancee with a smile, listening to whatever she was telling them. wrapping his arms around her tiny little waist, kissed the top of her head and said, "don't worry. if you get scared, you could just close your eyes and hold my hand until the ride is over." looking down at erica once more, holding her pretty close while taking couple steps forward as the line was getting closer and closer toward the ride. while waiting in line, noah looked around the area and notice how much fun everyone was having, barely hearing people's laughs and seeing the smiles on their faces. "how about after we ride the ferris wheel, we'll go play one of the carnival games and i'll try to win you a stuffed teddy bear?" noah asked, letting out a small laugh. the carnival games is pretty much his favorite part about attending to the fair. it's always fun to win these random prizes, whether if it's a teddy bear or something else. noah is a champ on the carnival games. while looking around his surrounding, noah then felt a little peck on the cheek that erica planted that caused his attention to focus on her. giving her a little wide smile, planting a little passionate kiss on the lips and said, "and i love you. i still cannot believe i'm gonna marry the most beautiful girl in the world."
