Tommy had been busy for almost a week, had absolutely no free time with his kids. His girlfriend Anna had left early in the morning for a week long trip to Louisiana to see family so Tommy was left alone with the little girls. The man was great with his kids but wasn't used to being alone with them for long periods of time and with his mistake giving them cupcakes for breakfast he had to help them get out the surplus energy. He wrestled the kids down so he could get them dressed in matching pink shirts and jeans. He preferred them in dresses but he couldn't very well let them play on swings or slides while they were in dresses, they were little girls after all. He slipped a pair of jeans on with a black tank top and a red plaid button up over it. The entire family was in black converse as they left the house.
When they arrived at the park Tommy let the girls run free as he sat on a bench to watch them play. His blue eyes scanned the nearly empty park occasionally, always landing back on the small blonde children. It was extremely obvious that the children were his. They both had his hair and eye color and similar facial features. The sun was high in the sky and Tommy was thankful the bench was in the shade, it was nice to be able to cool down and relax. He hadn't had a moment to himself since Kinlee, the three year old, had got up that morning. He pulled out his phone and texted Anna to ask her to call him that evening and then he was focused on the children again, almost bummed for them that no other kids were there to play with them. That was the good thing about them being close in age though, they always had a play mate.
After a few minutes he leaned back slightly, pulling a water bottle from the bag he'd carried along and took a slow sip, looking around the park again. There'd been so many new people in town the past year that Tommy just couldn't keep up with it. He wasn't quite as trusting as he'd been when the girls were born and he certainly didn't know all of his neighbors anymore. Small towns weren't made to be over run and it felt wrong to see so many people constantly.
